Laser FAQs

Laser at WAXON makes for the most comfortable laser experience possible, with the speed of the technology combined with a cooling tip to minimize discomfort you will be in and out before you know it! However, there are clients who find it uncomfortable especially in the more sensitive areas, so if you're concerned with the pain, arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment time to purchase Zensa – a numbing cream to ensure a virtually pain free service!

The number of treatments needed varies from person to person. We recommend purchasing a package of 6 or 8 as a starting point, where your Laserologist will assess your progress throughout your treatment period and suggest additional sessions if needed. While we see truly remarkable results, there are clients who need a lot more treatments to see significant results.

Absolutely! Services are provided by certified and trained Laserologists who undergo rigorous training prior to performing laser services on clients of WAXON. Prior to receiving laser treatment, we will first assess your complete medical history, your current health condition, and any potential you may have for complications. In addition, we use a melanin reader on your skin which pre-sets the machine using blue tooth technology to a setting suitable for you, so the chance of burns is extremely low.

At WAXON, we use the Vectus Laser by Cynosure. With the use of Skintel to provide custom and safe treatment settings to you, and a cooling tip for minimal discomfort, the Vectus provides outstanding, efficient service to our growing clientele!

While some clinics treat clients during pregnancy, we do not at WAXON. Our primary concern is both for your health, and for that of your child. In addition, you should consider the hormonal changes that you will go through during your pregnancy and after. These changes that sometimes involve hair growth and skin pigmentation. We recommend that you speak with your doctor prior to receiving laser treatment.

No, it will remove the hair from the follicle, leaving no target for your next laser treatment. This may also disrupt the growth cycle of the hair and render your laser treatments less effective. However, you may shave or trim hair between treatments, as neither will affect the growth cycle.

Our technology treats all skin types. The only exception is grey, white or platinum hair. If you have a serious skin disorder or disease you will need to check with your doctor to ensure laser is safe for you. Book in a complementary consultation to see if you are a candidate!

Yes, our technology works on all skin types and is completely safe and effective for skin types from Nicole Kidman to Whoopi Goldberg, however you may require more treatments to see significant results.

HAVE A LASER QUESTION? CLICK HERE!

Unfortunately not. Unlike waxing, laser treatment requires the Laserologist and client to wear protective eyewear for the entire appointment. Best to leave your little one at home!

All of our Laserologists are certified medical aestheticians and must graduate from our internal training program as well as the completion of Cynosure’s professional course, certified by registered nurses.

Laser sessions vary from 10-30 minutes, depending on the area.

Scheduling every 4-8 weeks depending on the area being lasered and your hair growth cycle. Your Laserologist will provide you with instructions after your service.

Laser is a more permanent form of removal and requires the use of the most cutting-edge technology by our medically trained aestheticians. Waxing is a more affordable short-term option for hair removal but in the long run, monthly maintenance can add up to be equal to or more than a laser hair removal package. We have interest free financing for clients who would rather pay it off in 6 or 12 months.

It is possible that your eyes could be exposed to direct, reflected or scattered light from our laser machine. Wearing protective eyewear ensures the safest service possible.

HAVE A LASER QUESTION? CLICK HERE!

You cannot wax the area for a duration of 4 weeks prior to your laser appointment. You cannot wax during your laser treatment period. You will need to shave during this time to make the hair coarser so the laser can remove the hair more effectively and significantly. However, after you have finished your laser treatments, the hair can sometimes grow back sparsely and slowly over the years, and at that point we always recommend waxing for maintenance versus shaving to keep the hairs fine.

Yes, our Laserologists will work around the area.

HAVE A LASER QUESTION? CLICK HERE!

Yes! Please ensure you let your Laserologist know, you will just need to wear a tampon with the string tucked in. We also have Zensa numbing cream to minimize your discomfort during this sensitive time of the month, which can be purchased and applied in-store 30-40 minutes before your appointment time!

HAVE A LASER QUESTION? CLICK HERE!

This is a localized contraindication, so you can get laser hair removal on other parts of your face and body, but not on the sore area. It’s best to wait until it has cleared so the infection doesn’t spread.

HAVE A LASER QUESTION? CLICK HERE!

This is a personal choice. Diabetics can get laser treatment, but there are some important side effects diabetics should know before proceeding with the treatment. For example, diabetics can feel more pain with laser due to sensitive nerves and tissues and are usually more susceptible to infections due to the slower healing response. Please check with your doctor if you are concerned.

HAVE A LASER QUESTION? CLICK HERE!

No - we recommend no UV exposure or self-tanner for 7 days prior to laser services to maximize results. During the course of laser treatment, it is strongly advised to wear SPF 45 or higher in the area being treated.

HAVE A LASER QUESTION? CLICK HERE!

Yes, you can still get laser but not on or around the tattoo. The Laserologist will avoid the tattoo by approximately 2 inches by marking it with white eyeliner, please make your Laserologist aware of any tattoos or permanent makeup you have.

With laser you should be scheduling your appointments the recommended amount of weeks apart set by your Laserologist – We suggest scheduling when you return. If you get laser before, that may be too soon for the laser technology to target your hairs properly for effective results. Please be very cautious on vacation; wear SPF 45 or higher in the area being lasered and not to come into your appointment following your vacation with a sunburn, tan or spray/self-tanner.

HAVE A LASER QUESTION? CLICK HERE!

Ingrown hairs occur from all hair removal treatments, but laser is the lowest chance of causing ingrown hairs, so many of our clients do laser not just for the significant reduction in hair but to help ingrown hairs also. Assuming you are in good health and informing your Laserologist of any changes to your health during laser treatment, you should not see any complications – the device we use is custom to your exact skin type which ensures a safe experience.
